Press release - Opening of the Amber Museum in Colți
Buzău County Museum, a culture and research institution operating under the authority of the Buzău County Council, based in Buzău, Aleea Castanilor, no. 1, Buzău County, announces the reopening of the basic exhibition at the Amber Museum, an event that will take place on Friday, August 21, 2020, starting at 12:00.
The Buzău County Museum thus becomes the first museum institution in the country to open, in this period of crisis generated by the pandemic, two permanent exhibitions at the external headquarters.
After an extensive process of rehabilitation and modernization, the Amber Museum presents itself to the public as a modern institution, from the 21st century, becoming, through the proposed museum-technical solutions, a reference museum in the Romanian cultural landscape.
Amber nuggets, jewelry (rings, earrings, pendants, beads, etc.), amber extraction and processing tools (wood lathes, hammers, lamps, pickaxe), all can be admired by visitors in one concept new exhibition.
The basic exhibitions also capitalize on the collection of mine flowers and paleofauna exhibits, from the patrimony of the Buzău County Museum, such as the femur of a mammoth, which lived 2.5 million years ago on the territory of Buzău County. At the same time, an important part of the exhibition concept is dedicated to the “Nucu-Bozioru Grotto”, a unique monument of prehistoric art in our country.
Among the surprises prepared for the public are the smart showcase, the first of its kind in a Romanian museum, and the souvenir shop, where visitors can buy souvenirs from Buzau - personalized objects with images from the museum's collections, but also some historical monuments in the county.
Access to the opening is allowed in compliance with the rules of hygiene and social distancing, to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
