Buzau painters

Painters of yesterday, painters of today

The selected paintings were created by Buzau artists who were born and lived in the late 19th and 20th centuries in Buzau lands, others who settled here or were passing through or had various connections. with Buzău.

Characteristic in Romanian fine arts: each work is quick to reveal rather the distinct personality of each creator, those particularities that make them stand out from each other, having the purpose to outline more style personal of the artist, than of the artistic currents that follow one another in Europe.

The importance and quality of Buzau's plastic art consists in the fact that the artists, after initially being enthusiastic about everything they find new everywhere, in other cultures, after creating under this influence, return to the inexhaustible source of Romanian popular creation. Most of the exhibiting Romanian artists - painters have as a point of reference the academic art studied within the art institutes. Artists, especially the latest generation, move on to the elimination of details and make original interpretations that lead spontaneously to the most convincing pictorial expression.

The sound names of the Romanian art of yesterday and today are present on the list: Ştefan Popescu, Gogu Iliescu, Grigore Negoşanu, Nicolae Ionescu, Margareta Sterian, Alexandru Moscu, Zoe Moscu, Gore Mircescu, Constantin Petrescu Dragoe, Iorgulescu Yor Petre, Ligia Macovei, Valeriu Şuşnea, Florin Menzopol, Gheorghe Ciobanu, Aurelia Tudorache, Ioan Rusu, Radu Herţug, Răzvan Mihalcea, Adina Stănescu, Luminiţa Toader and many others.
